Andrea

Medical Director

I am proud to be the medical director of Veterans Trauma Resorts, where we individualize our treatment programs based on each veteran’s specific needs. Our dedicated therapists and medical team begin by learning each client’s story and understanding the specific struggles that are keeping them from being the person they want to be. With the help of medication (when necessary) and therapeutic techniques including dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and a specialized version of EMDR, we instill in our clients all of the psychological tools necessary for their journey to permanent recovery! We want your course of treatment at our program to be one of the best experiences of your life and for you to continue to grow and improve from the moment you enter our facility and for many years to come.

Maxine

Licensed Mental Heath Therapist/Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist

Throughout my 30 years of experience, I have learned the true implications that trauma can have on one’s life. The first step in overcoming your past will be a thorough evaluation by one of our therapists who will learn your story and prove to you that you are not alone. We will help you to understand that your feelings are both normal and natural considering what you have been through, and we can break the hold these feelings have on you and change your thoughts. You will learn new, clinically proven coping skills and become a THRIVER, rather than just a survivor.

We will help you change your narrative into something that works for you.

Testimonials

“I was desperate. Where could I turn? My son was totally lost to us, only a step away from being arrested and sent to jail. For several years we tried to help by sending him to counseling, doctors, outpatient therapy, & inpatient therapy, but nothing worked. He became more lost. Miraculously we found Veterans Trauma Resorts, where we enrolled him in the inpatient program. It was a miracle! After several months, he became himself. He stopped abusing himself, started studying, and he obtained a career in the recovery field. Now he has a great job, owns his own home, a new car, and has a wonderful dog. Helping others helped him find himself. I cannot thank Veterans Trauma Resorts enough for giving us back our son.”

I’m an alumni of Veterans Trauma Resorts. I always thought I was a bad person with a diagnosis, as I was a sex addict for a years and couldn’t find help anywhere. The turning point for me was when my therapist explained that I was using sex to cope with my trauma. He referred to it as “trauma sex”.  Once I fully embraced this concept, and got the help I needed, I was finally able to move forward and find my dignity. Today, life is good.

When I came to Veterans Trauma Resorts, I learned that I developed bulimia to cope with my trauma. For the first time, I was told to focus on my trauma and not my eating disorder. I had to work on what was eating me instead of what I was eating. After getting the proper therapy, the obsession with food finally subsided. It’s all an ongoing process but Veteran’s Trauma Resorts gave me the help I needed to make a fresh start.
